Gerri Kier from the Coal Creek Rotary Club gave an inspired talk on her pet project. Her non-profit group is called Education Elevated. They collect funding for every foot gained for hiking and climbing teams throughout the world. Gerri hiked to Base Camp at Mount Everest and help establish a library for a school in Chyangba Village, Nepal. This village is extremely remote with poor water and over a 50% infant mortality rate. If you need further information go to www.educationelevated.orgor contact Gerri at 303-815-3567 303-815-3567 .
Next quarters 50/50 proceeds will be given to Education Elevated.

The club needs you to get involved in the planning of the DUCK RACE. Please mark your calendar for Tuesday February 3, 4:30 PM at the Times-Call. Every member is essential for this year’s race and there is a job for every one. Committees are needed for: corporate race, citizen race, The new Children’s race/coloring page, set up teardown day of race, sponsors, after race follow-up, plus things that haven’t really been identified.
Program
Our Club Assembly produced some excellent results on how to get our club back on track and the first focus is on membership.
President Jean asked each of us to write down on a sheet of paper why we joined Rotary and if our needs are being met. After a round table discussion it was determined, our club was meeting the majority of our needs and we must focus on these items.
1.) Identify what our club truly does. Service
2.) Commit to bring in one new member this year.
3.) Appeal to people with kids and focus on why the breakfast club is good for them.
4.) Know who we truly are and realize that Rotary is a commitment.
Our thanks go out to Cindy Noble who offered us some great suggestions and sharing her perspective on our club as well.
